Say goodbye to boring hamburgers. These flavorful beefy burgers are bursting with taste and are perfectly complimented with a zesty lime aioli and Monterey Jack cheese.

Aioli is a sauce made with garlic and olive oil and found in Mediterranean, French, and Spanish cuisines. In this recipe we take a shortcut and use mayonnaise and garlic powder to produce a zesty aioli of our own!

Yield: 4 servings of flavorful grilled beefy burgers

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces ground beef (at least 15 percent fat)
  • 8 ounces ground sirloin
  • One egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • One fourth cup panko or bread crumbs
  • 4 thick slices Monterey Jack cheese (or 8 thin slices)
  • One half cup mayonnaise
  • 4 teaspoons fresh lime juice
  • Two teaspoons garlic powder (divided)
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons coriander
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • One half teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • One half teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns (I like brioche buns)
  • Garnishes of your choice

Method

Prepare your work area

  1. Run a few inches of warm soapy water before you start the recipe so you have a handy place to plunge your fingers when needed. Read our post “Start with soapy hot water”.
  2. Have a towel available at your side that travels with you to quickly dry your fingers.
  3. Use a work tray to contain any spills that might occur.

Tools:
Apron, Towel Clips, Work Trays
