Pasta Portioner

$6.99

The TBK Pasta Portioner is an easy guide for portioning string pasta. It is a thin piece of steel, roughly shaped like an oval, with 4 holes each with a different size. It is about 7 inches long. The wider part of the oval is about 2 and a half inches wide and the smaller end of the oval is about 1 and a half inches wide. It is flat and smooth, about the thickness of a thin piece of cardboard.

Why blind-friendly? The pasta portioner provides the cook with the ability to measure out nutritionist-suggested two-ounce portions of dried string-style pasta. It can measure the right amount for one person or up to 4 people easily with no vision required.

Description

Use and Care:

Step 1: Place an empty tall narrow container in front of you. A pan or dish that is at least 6 inches deep and no more than 6 inches wide.

Step 2: Place the pasta portioner across the top of the empty pan or dish so that it is suspended horizontally across the center of the pan or dish.

Step 3: Select the hole that corresponds with the number of servings you would like to prepare. The smallest hole will hold 2 ounces of pasta for one serving, the next largest hole will measure out 4 ounces of pasta for 2 servings, the next largest hole will be enough for 6 ounces of pasta for 3 servings and the largest hole holds 8 ounces of pasta to serve for 4 people.

Step 4: Stand the dried string pasta (such as angel hair, spaghetti, or fettuccini) and place it into the desired hole for the servings you desire. The pasta will “stand up” in the pan. Keep adding pasta until the desired hole is full of standing pasta.

Step 5:  Remove the dry pasta and cook according to package directions or to your preferred firmness.

Caring for the pasta portioner is easy.  It is made of stainless steel so it can be hand or machine washed.  Its thinness makes it easy to store for easy retrieval when needed.
